Facilities The buildings at Westwood International School have been purpose built to cope with the normally hot and dry climate found in Botswana. All the classrooms and offices have air conditioning for the summer and heating for the winter. The campus is planted with a range of environmentally suitable trees which provide natural shade. Westwood’s extensive facilities include the 450 seat Mantlwaneng Hall used by students for assemblies, concerts and plays with a use by the wider community for cultural events; a fully equipped library and IT centre, tennis and football fields, volleyball and basketball courts, a six lane swimming pool with covered seating for spectators and a beginner’s pool, and a climbing wall. Administrative offices are located throughout the school, with the main administrative area at the front of the school. The school nurse is also located in this area. Throughout the campus two-way communication is available via an intercom system to the administrative area. Westwood International School Council has approved and budgeted for significant facility upgrades in the school strategic plan 2009-2011. These include new provision for physical education and sport as well as replacement state-of-the-art science, arts, design & technology facilities and a new library.
